Kailash Mansarovar Tour Itinerary

Day 1 :Arrival in Kathmandu

You are most welcome in Nepal! On reaching Kathmandu Airport, our tour representative welcomes you with a smile and then escorts you to the hotel. Check-in, freshen up and relax for a few hours. Later, in the evening you can either stroll down the streets of the city or take rest in the cozy hotel room. Have the scrumptious Nepalese cuisines in dinner and then overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 2 :Exploring the Tourist Destinations in Kathmandu

Post breakfast, you will be taken for the days sightseeing tour which includes Pashupatinath Temple and also the Budhanilkantha Temple also called as Jal Narayan Temple (sleeping Vishnu). Later in the afternoon, return to the hotel and then the rest part of the day is yours. You can go for shopping or can also stroll down the streets to enjoy the beautiful nightlife of the city.

Day 3 :Kathmandu – Gonggar – Lhasa

After a hearty breakfast in the morning, you will be taken to the flight terminal to reach the Gonggar Airport and then from there drive towards one of the most beautiful scenic city, Lhasa. From here you can get the beautiful view of Kanchenjunga, Mt. Everest, and the other Himalayan ranges too. Upon your arrival at the airport, our Tibetan tour guide will assist you.

Day 4 :Free from any Activity

This day is designed especially for the acclimatization purpose so that you can relax and get comfortable with the environment of the new place. However, if you wish we can arrange some local sightseeing trips in the capital city of Tibet. Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor markets are the destinations which can be visited today. From the famous Barkhor market, one can buy plenty of things which represents and acquires the taste and the fragrances of Tibet. You can also visit the monuments like petition beads, Thanks, and various other treasures. However, you will have to pay the entrance charge at these monuments.

Day 5 :Lhasa – Shigatse

Post breakfast check-out from the hotel and then drive towards Shigatse. Upon your arrival at Shigatse (the second largest city in the country), you will be transferred to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel, take rest for a few hours and then later if you wish you can go and walk around the narrow lanes of the city. Return to the Hotel, enjoy the Tibetan cuisines in dinner and then overnight stay.

Day 6 :Shigatse – Saga

Early morning, you will be transferred towards Saga. This is a long journey which takes you through Lhatse and Sang Sang. We will have to start our journey early morning to reach the ultimate trip to Kailash. From today you will be provided with the Sherpa staff group including a Nepalese cook who will also offer you with the Indian vegetarian dishes for the entire trip to Mt. Kailash.

Day 7 :Saga – Mansarovar Lake

This is the most important day of the trip and your actual Journey to Mansarovar starts from today. The day starts early in the morning with a healthy morning meal in the hotel. Mansarovar Lake and Mt. Kailash are the destinations of the day. En-route we will be visiting the Mayum La Pass which is considered as the highest pass in the country.

You will be provided afternoon meal near the Drichu River which lies before Mayum La pass. We will also be carrying some eatable items like biscuits, pieces of bread, fruits, or some juices which will be helpful for the further journey. We will be completing 70% of the Parikrama of the placid Mansarovar Lake today and then later in the evening we will return to the camping site for the food and the overnight stay.

Day 8 :Mansarovar Lake – Darchen – Yamadwar – Dirapuk Trek

The day starts with the puja rituals and Hawans around Mansarovar Lake. Take a dip in the sacred lake which is believed to be produced by the Hindu god Brahma. You can also enjoy hiking but for this, you need to start your day very early morning.

After the Parikrama of the lake, you will be transferred to Darchen and then to the Yama Dwar which is a beautiful palace from where you can get the eye-catching close view of the southern side of Mt. Kailash. From this place, you will be moving towards Dirapuk which is believed to be the northern face of the Mt. Kailash. You can visit the Yamadwar or Mt. Kailash either by a horse ride or by walking (depends upon your physical strength). The trek of the day starts with an easy level but sooner reaches the moderate level reaching up to the Glacial River. We will be stopping at a tea shop for a while to have a cup of tea to refresh ourselves for the onward journey of the day. After completing the exploration of the day return to the accommodation for the overnight stay.

Day 9 :Shivasthal – Gaurikunda – Zuthulphuk

Called as the toughest and the challenging Parikrama day. You will have to start your day early in the morning around 4 am or 5 am and yes do not forget to carry the packed lunch with you. To reach the Dolma-La Pass you will have to cover the distance of approx. 4-5 hours and then again descending to the other side of the Dolma-La Pass. At Dolma- La Pass you will visit the sacred Shivasthal which is always enchanted with the prayers of the devotees.

While coming down from this high altitude pass you will be exploring the placid and stunning holy Lake- Gaurikunda which is situated at the right side of the foothills. Coming more down you will be visiting the glacier path where you can find a place to enjoy a hot cup of tea. The journey of the day ends with the excursion of the river bank at Zuthulphuk.

Day 10 :Drive Towards Saga

Today you don’t have to cover the trekking trail and you just have to walk on a simple and flat path which can be covered within 2-3 hours. Our representative will pick you from Darchen by a vehicle and then take you towards Saga.

Day 11 :Returning Back to Shigatse

After breakfast in the morning, you will be taken back to Shigatse by following the same route that we followed while going.

Day 12 :Returning Back to Lhasa

After check-out from the hotel, you will be taken back to the capital city of Lhasa from where you will be taken to Kathmandu. We will cover the entire distance to Lhasa by following the northern highway route.

Day 13 :Flying to Kathmandu

This is your last day in Tibet. Post breakfast you will check-out from the hotel and then taken to the Lhasa airport where our Tibetan tour guide will see you off. On reaching Kathmandu, you will be taken to the hotel, check-in, relax for the day and later in the evening if time permits you then go for a city walk and enjoy the last nightlife in Kathmandu.

Day 14 :Departure from Kathmandu

This is the end of your journey. Start your day with a healthy breakfast, pack your bags and then check-out from the hotel. Our tour representative will transfer you to the Airport and bids adieu for your onward journey home.
