Sri Lanka Ramayana Tour Itinerary

Day 1 :Arrival in Sri Lanka – Negombo

Once you arrive in Sri Lanka you will be greeted by our tour manager who will transfer you to your hotel in Negombo. After unwinding and freshening up for a little while you will be taken for spending a relaxing time in Negombo beach before staying for the night here.

Day 2 :Negombo – Munneswaram – Habarana

After having your breakfast in the morning you will be made to head for your Darshan at Munneswaram Temple in Munneswaram along with Manawari Temple Chilaw. After this you will immediately be transferred to Habarana. This is the place where lord ram had prayed to lord shiva asking for a solution for committing the sin of Brahmasti which is the biggest crime according to the Hindu Dharm. The idol of Shivling which is worshipped even today is said to have been installed by lord ram. Finally on reaching Habarana you will be checked in to your allotted hotel here for an overnight stay.

Day 3 :Habarana – Trincomalee

Early in the morning after having your breakfast you will be transferred to Trincomalee. On reaching you shall be taken on a visit of Thirukoneswaram temple here that was built by rishi Agastya as per the instructions of lord shiva. You will be made to check in to your hotel here where you will be staying for the night.

Day 4 :Sightseeing of Trincomalee – Habarana

After having your breakfast in the morning your sightseeing tour of Trincomalee will commence where you shall be covering places like fort Frederick, marble beach, hot springs well and the war cemetery. Later on you will be transferred to your next destination of Habarana. After freshening up your fun visit of Minneriya National Park will commence. After exploring the diverse wildlife culture and bird watching you will be made to head back to your allotted hotel in Habarana for an overnight stay.

Day 5 :Habarana – Sigiriya – Dambulla Cave Temple – Kandy

Post breakfast you will be taken on a fun cultural expedition of Sri Lankan heritage before finally reaching Kandy. On your way to Kandy you will be checking out the grand UNESCO world heritage site of Sigiriya rick fortress. Later on a visit to another one of the UNESCO world heritage site of Dambulla cave temples. Finally, via matale you will reach the ancient city of Kandy. Finally, by evening you will be visiting the sacred tooth relic temple in Kandy. You will then be made to head on to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6 :Kandy Sightseeing

Your day will commence post breakfast where you will be taken on a tour of the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Later on you will also spend some time in the Royal Botanical gardens. Later on after some more brief sightseeing tour of Kandy you will head on to your hotel for spending the remining time in leisure.

Day 7 :Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast in the morning you will be checked out of your hotel in Kandy and head on for your next destination of Nuwara Eliya. En route you will also be made to visit the iconic temples related to Ramayan like Shri Bhakta Hanuman temple and Gayathri Peedam. In the evening you can even indulge in some brief sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya and take a stroll in front of the Gregory Lake before heading to your hotel here for an overnight stay.

Day 8 :Nuwara Eliya – Divurum Pola

After having your breakfast in the morning, you will be made to visit the landmark of Hakgala botanical gardens which is mentioned as the Ashok Vatika in Ramayana. En route you will also be made to visit the famous Sita Amman Temple. Finally on reaching Divurum Pola where Sita Mata had taken an oath and finally be transferred to Bandarawela where you will be checked in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 9 :Divurum Pola – Kataragama

After your breakfast in the morning you will be made to proceed for a visit to Ravana waterfalls and caves in Ella which is a very prominent place of tourist attraction here. Finally after spending a day there you will be made to head on for your final destination of the day in Kataragama.

Day 10 :Kataragama – Galle – Colombo

Your morning will begin on an auspicious note where you will be visiting the temple of Kataragama which is dedicated to the god of love and war – God Skanda or Murugan. Finally after a visit to the famous Galle Dutch fort in Galle you will be made to be transferred to Colombo where you will be staying for the night.

Day 11 :Sightseeing of Colombo – Departure

Early in the morning after breakfast you will be made to check out of your hotel for going on a complete sightseeing tour of Colombo. Finally you will be made to head for your departure location where you will board the flight headed for your desired destination.

    Q.Will I visit Ram Setu during my tour of Sri Lanka?

    A. It is not really possible since it is entirely a 48 km long collection of sand dunes, shoals and limestones connecting Rameshwaram to Mannar in Sri Lanka. There is literally nothing to see here but an aerial view is pretty fantastic.

    Q.Can I hire or charter a small aircraft or helicopter to visit Ram Setu?

    A. Yes. One can easily hire a small charter aircraft that has the capacity for carrying 4 to 8 passengers at once.

    Q.How many Sanjeevani Mountains are present there in Sri Lanka?

    A. There are 5 Sanjeevani mountains in all of Sri Lanka that are called – Dolukanda, Ritigala Nature Reserve, Rumassala Mountain, Katchatheevu Island and Thalladi.

    Q.Is it possible to visit all the Ramayan related sites in Sri Lanka within 3 to 4 days?

    A. I don’t think this will be possible since there are numerous heritage sites related to Ramayana so it may take around 5 to 6 days minimum.

    Q.Are there any options for cultural wildlife tours during Ramayana tour of Sri Lanka?

    A. Sure in the Ramayana tour package wildlife and national park visits are also included but make sure to discuss about this with your travel executive to include it in the itinerary.

    Q.Is it possible to visit Yala National Park during the Ramayana tour?

    A. Sure. You can definitely include it in your plans and for this you must wake up early in the morning to get your best chances of animal sightings and mainly because it requires 3 hours to completely cover the jeep safari tour.
