Yamunotri TempleLocated at an elevation of 10,797 feet above sea level in the Uttarkashi district of devbhoomi Uttarakhand Yamunotri Dham is a shrine which is the first destination in the Chota Char Dham Yatra. Since the source of the holy River Yamuna is unreachable and inaccessible this seat of Goddess Ganga marks the point where the holy Yamuna becomes attainable. February: With the temperature going till the sub-zero level with -8 degree Celsius, the entire region also witnesses extremely cold weather conditions and snowfalls are also prevalent during this time.

March: The temperature during this time ranges between -5 degree Celsius to 5 degree Celsius however snow is still prevalent. The temple routes are cleared for the following months when the pilgrimage will kick start.

April: This month witnesses temperature ranging between -2 degree Celsius and 7 degree Celsius with the climatic conditions becoming better day by day and clearing up for visitation by dham yatris.

May: Considered to be one of the best seasons to visit the dham, the temperature ranges between 2 degree Celsius and 10 degree Celsius. The overall weather conditions are extremely pleasant and favorable.

June: This month witnesses extremely pleasant weather conditions with the temperature ranging between 5 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius. this is also the time when pilgrimage is at its best.

July: This month marks the beginning of the extremely cold rainy season in the area. The pilgrimage and dham yatra is temporarily suspended buring this time since the entire land remains prone to unpredictable landslides, mudslides and dangerous avalanches.

August: The temperature during this month ranges between 8 degree Celsius and 15 degree Celsius which is accompanied with heavy cold rainfall.

September: With the temperature ranging between 5 degree Celsius and 14 degree Celsius the overall climatic conditions remain extremely cold and wet.

October: The temperature during this month dips till 1 degree Celsius and the maximum goes till 12 degree Celsius. There are some random showers which take place during this month and the temperature remains extremely cold.

November: This month marks the beginning of the cold and freezing winter season with the temperature dipping till the subzero level of -2 degree Celsius. Snowfalls become a common occurring during this month.

December: All the routes leading up to the Yamunotri Dham are shut down due to heavy snowfall during this month with the temperature going till subzero level of-8 degree Celsius.
